The British multi-national engineering giant AMEC, BECOL Fortis Inc., Canada will hard pressed during next week's Privy Council Chalillo Dam hearing (December 3rd 4th) defend themselves against charges endangering human life deliberately omitting vital geological data on proposed Chalillo dam.
Maps prepared these companies submitted Belize government Environmental Impact Assessment controversial dam on the Macal River reveal number geological fault lines were deliberately erased. missing fault lines crisscross site where Chalillo dam now being built.
Documents submitted court include map prepared with Canadian taxpayer dollars AMEC, which shows where fault lines next dam site were erased. comparison with original Bateson Hall map, upon which these maps are based, Fortis/AMEC map does not include these prominent faults.

Critics, who have pointed out faulty geology very beginning, now say failure correctly assess site's strengths weaknesses has become serious cause alarm. For years both Fortis AMEC have defended their original geological survey area, denying reports study seriously flawed.
AMEC originally identified entire dam site composed granite sub-surface, but after extensive searching contractors have not been able find any granite site. Instead have found shale sandstone.
