After more than two years, construction finally finished yesterday on 7.3 megawatts Chalillo site Mountain Pine Ridge Area. A release Fortis-owned Belize Electric Company says turbines have begun turn project's completion has doubled the amount energy produced hydroelectricity, taking 80 gigawatts 160 gigawatts. BECOL's Vice-President Operations, Stephen Usher, says completion dam will offset rising cost oil.
